Dance
Bharatanatyam is a 2000-year-old Hindu dance form that combines both fast-paced dancing and story-telling elements to create a beautiful display. I have 12 years of dance experience and teach an intermediate-level class. I love Bharatanatyam because it is a wonderful way to connect with my culture and ancestors. I hope to continue dancing for the rest of my life!
My Arangetram
An Arangetram is the debut performance of a Bharatanatyam dancer. It is traditionally the first performance after years of training and symbolizes the Guru presenting their pupil to the public. An Arangetram is also a celebration of all the hard work the dancer has put into their art.
Teaching
I also teach my own weekly Bharatanatyam class through my dance academy. The class is intermediate, meaning we learn different adavus (steps) and even basic dances. It is a great way to pass on my knowledge of Bharatanatyam and help my students love it as much as I do!
ISTD
The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance
The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance is a dance examination board that provides dance training and examination in a broad variety of styles ranging from traditional ballet to street dancing. I honed my dance knowledge and teaching skills through the Bharatanatyam course, and became a Level 3 Certified Bharatanatyam teacher!
